51fe2150ea Expanded the Locking in Glibc and Re-adjusting the toolchain

443cace8ce Implemented changes to make the running of the Chapter 5 test 
suites strictly optional i.e. the default action for the
average reader is to not run them. Closes 719.

21ba4e3570 Internal markup reworking to fix the extraneous whitespace problem in the "tidy generated" web site pages. Essentially replace all ocurrences of <para><screen> with <screen> (and of course the matching closing tags).

21b1878de5 Changed single to double quote in the echo command. Without it, lorien won't expand and defeats the sole purpose of creating the file - making perl's hostname check work
